Parents organise a Table Quiz to raise funds: 6 April 2017
Table Quiz for School Library

Parents Association

Hello and welcome to the Parents' Association of Manor House Secondary School, Raheny.

We represent all the parents/guardians of girls attending Manor House.

The Association’s role is defined in the Education Act, namely to ‘promote the interests of the students, in co-operation with the board, Principal, teachers and the students of that school’.

It provides an effective partnership and channel of communication between home and school for the benefit of the students.

Membership of the Association gives you the opportunity to

  • Participate in school life,
  • Play a meaningful role in supporting the aims and objectives of the school, your children, teachers and school management and
  • Enjoy the benefits of the support of other parents.

So what do we do as members of the Parents Association?

  • Work in partnership with the Principal and teachers in the development and review of relevant school policies such as code of behaviour and anti-bullying.
  • Organise talks and courses on topics of interest such as drug awareness.
  • Raise and discuss issues of interest or concern that have been brought to our attention.
  • Arrange mock interviews for 5th year students hosted by parents with interviewing expertise.
  • Support the school organizing special events when needed e.g. annual debs ball, 6th year graduation and concerts.
  • We are involved in occasional fund raising; at present we are trying to raise funds to renovate and update the school library.

The Principal, Ms Mary O’Neill, keeps us up to date with a report on school news, activities, policies, plans and Board of Management meetings.

Membership of the Association gives you an opportunity to find out what’s going on in Manor House, to ask questions and to network and get to know other parents. It is not a big commitment for what you get in return.

Meetings take place in the school monthly on Thursday evenings at 7pm. All parents and guardians are welcome to attend the AGM and to apply to become a member of the committee or to volunteer their time and support for various projects. We can be contacted at manorhousepa@gmail.com

The members of the Association wish your daughter every success and happiness on her journey through Manor House.
