Parents' Association: Welcome!

Hello and welcome to the Parents' Association of Manor House Secondary School, Raheny. We represent all the parents and guardians of girls attending Manor House. The Association’s role as defined in the Education Act, is to ‘promote the interests of the students, in co-operation with the board, Principal, teachers and the students of that school’. It provides an effective partnership and channel of communication between home and school for the benefit of the students.

Membership of the Association gives you the opportunity to

  • Participate in school life,
  • Be aware of what’s happening in the school throughout the year.
  • Play a meaningful role in supporting the aims and objectives of the school, your children, teachers and the school management.
  • Enjoy the benefits of the support of other parents.

Being a member of the Parents' Association, what it involves;

  • Work in partnership with the Principal and teachers in the development and review of relevant school policies such as code of behavior, Child Protection Code, homework policy and anti-bullying.
  • Organize talks for parents and courses on topics of interest e.g. drug awareness.
  • Raise and discuss issues of interest or concern that have been brought to our attention.
  • Arrange mock interviews for 5th year students each year involving parents with interviewing expertise.
  • Arrange Table Quiz events
  • Support the school organising special events when needed e.g. annual deb’s ball, meeting newly arriving parents etc.
  • We are also involved in fund raising for the school projects (such as Creative School garden),  update of the school library etc.

The Principal, Ms Mary O’Neill, keeps us up to date with a report on school news, activities, policies, plans and Board of Management meetings.

Meetings take place in the school every 6-8 weeks on Monday evenings at 7pm.  When students start in Manor House, their parents and guardians are invited to attend the AGM at the beginning of the school year. If you are interested in joining the Association you can become a member of the committee. Not everyone needs to be on the committee but there is an opportunity to volunteer your time and support for various projects which can happen during the school year. We can be contacted at pa@manorhouseschool.com

The members of the Association wish your daughter every success and happiness on her journey through Manor House.

Events supported by the Parents' Association

5th year Mock Interviews and Career Fair

The Parents' Association was organizing the annual Mock Interviews for 5thyear students for many years pre-Covid and is planning to resume them in 2023-24 school year. All 5th year students will be encouraged to avail of this opportunity. The students and their teachers more in the past very grateful to parents who give of their valuable time on this occasion, and were reporting the experience as invaluable.

Fund Raising

  • We organised a table quiz annually over the pre-Covid years to help support fundraising for the school. In the past this has allowed the school to update the library environment and the purchase of new books. We are planning to resume it in future, so follow the news!
  • This year of 2022/2023 we plan Easter Raffle to support Creative School project where they need to raise funds for new school garden, and update of the school library.
  • We also regularly organise clothes drives where there is an opportunity to donate pre-loved clothes to the school. In return, money can be made from these donations.

Pre-Deb’s reception for the 6th years

Since 2017 we have helped the school to organise a pre-deb’s reception in the school. All 6th years are invited with their families to attend this occasion. It has been a great success and gives an opportunity to see all the style before the students head off to the debs. Photographs are taken on the night.

Uniform Swap

PA is looking into organizing a uniform swap to use the uniforms of graduating 6th years students for the newcomers or any students whose families would like to reuse some of the uniforms in good condition.

Pre-Debs Receptions (LC 2017 and LC 2018)

See the Debs page for the full gallery of photos from the pre-debs receptions held in the school. The slideshow below is a mere taster!
